Hey guys welcome back!
This week was nothing crazy so I'll just hit the highlights, they were mostly at the end of the week!
Tuesday and Wednesday were normal and nothing crazy.
But Thursday was actually the craziest day. We started off with finding for
5 hours, aka went out on the streets for 5 hours straight talking to
people, it was long and crazy. But then we had a lit lesson with our
friend. She answers the phone and immediately tells us she has been
reading from the Book of Mormon and wants to read it with us. We were
stoked. She also made sure we prayed before we started, it was awesome.
However one highlight that day was Thanksgiving dinner. Backstory real
quick, my comp and I were out finding one day and we decided to go
somewhere different. We met this mom and her girls who spoke English
(and Romanian) and she told us they lived in America for a while and had LDS friends. They know about missionaries because of their friends and
wanted to have us over for dinner (after only knowing us for 5 minutes) .
She said we could come on Thanksgiving. She texted us a few days later
inviting us over Thanksgiving and it was actually amazing. So we went to
this American families house for an American Thanksgiving. It was amazing.
They were so nice. So moral of the story, be nice to your non-lds friends
because they might just invite 4 homesick missionaries over for a
holiday meal.
On Friday we had a district activity so all the missionaries from Arad came to Oradea. We went to a nice lunch and had a big finding activity, it was fun. We also got to have our interviews with president which are always good. The christmas market în Oradea also opened that day so we got to go check it out and it was actually the coolest thing I've ever seen!
Then
Saturday the sisters from Arad stayed and we had an exchange! I was
with Sora Later, who is still in training so that was fun! We had a
really fun day.
Sunday was nothing crazy, had a 3
hour branch council that messed up our day and it was România day!
Basically the 4th of July but for Romania so it made finding hard but it
was cool to see the celebrations! However they didn't have fireworks so
America still does it a little better......
It was a good week! I had to share a spiritual thought în district council so I thought I would share it again :
În
the gospels în the new testament, they all talk about bearing your
cross. However Luke talks about bearing your cross daily. We have to
bear up our cross daily and follow Him, not just once. Elder Holland gave
a talk on bearing your cross and he said that you have to keep bearing
your cross even when the path gets dark and lonely and the cross is
especially heavy that day. We have to continue to bear it with hope and
trust that He will lighten it. It reminded me of a quote I heard once a few
years ago that has always stuck with me. The Friday when Christ
suffered în the garden for our sins and died on the cross, was the
darkest and hardest day. Harder than we can imagine. However 3 days
later, on Sunday, Christ rose and all was well. So the quote goes : no
matter how hard the Friday is, your Sunday will come.
Even if your Friday 3 hours long, 3 weeks long, a year long, your Sunday will come, better than you imagine
I love you all, God loves you more and just know that your Sunday will come.
Lots and lots of love,
sam
