sarmale and roaches

Welcome back gamers, let's dive into another week of missionary work

A lot of basic things so I'll just dump highlights and good stories!

- had a few translating lessons with some Germany elders and those are always interesting

- taught a pentecostal family who told us to not believe that the Book of Mormon is a holy book and were saying some wild things they believe, very very odd lesson

- went inactive member finding and some lady told us to not speak to people if we can't speak romanian #humbling

- learned how to make sarmale (traditional dish, basically stuffed cabbage rolls) from a friend

- this friends house is actually roach infested and we would open drawers and they would crawl out, but she makes the best sarmale ever so it may be worth it

- went and bought gifts at the mall during dinner

- had a branch party on saturday! It was a lot of fun and so many people came, literally like 50 and so many inactive members, very very awesome, kids sang songs and we ate sarmale and dessert together and just had a great time, it was so much fun

- because of the party we had some inactive members back at church on Sunday and it was so cool

- had a lot of member visits on Sunday and it was so amazing

- Christmas is this week and I'm excited for a missionary Christmas :)

spiritual thought :
In Luke 17 it talks about preserving your life through Christ and how we can find life through Christ. One verse is very short and says "remember Lots wife" that's it. President Holland gave a BYU devotional on remembering lots wife and why we need to so after reading this chapter I re-listened to it (highkey recommend it). But I know it was actually divine help that made me listen to that talk because it was exactly what I needed in that moment to hear. President Holland talks about being attached to the past. He says "In short, her attachment to the past outweighed her confidence in the future. That, apparently, was at least part of her sin. I plead with you not to dwell on days now gone, nor to yearn vainly for yesterdays, however good those yesterdays may have been. The past is to be learned from but not lived in." We need to continue to move forward and grow. One of my favorite parts of the Atonement is the part of allowing us to grow and change and improve. It allows us to change, others to change and gives everyone the chance to move forward. So in short, listen to this devotional, let yourself change and let others change and grow. It's the beauty of the Atonement.

I love you all. Have the merriest Christmas and remember the reason we celebrate. Share the light of Christ and keep Him in your heart a little more this week.
