Bună ziua din romania!
While the subject line is correct, I wasn't shipped off to Vietnam, I was however shipped off to Ploiești!!! (also anyone who gets that reference, I love you with my whole heart, anyone who doesn't get it, please go watch the best show ever (Gilmore Girls))
Anyways I got to Romania this week!! I'm a city about an hour from Bucharest, called Ploiești! My companion is Sora Blanchard and she's has been out for about 10 months! It's been fun getting to know her.
Anyway this week was wild! On Monday we finished our last class and packed. We said bye to our friends and teachers, it was kinda sad, they made the mtc so fun! Then Tuesday we finished packing and headed to the airport! We flew from SLC to Amsterdam then to Bucharest. It made for a long day. When we got to buc we met our mission president's, ate some really delicious romanian food and went to bed for some much needed sleep. Then now Thursday morning, we headed over to the church and had some interviews, ate some lunch and met our trainers! We then headed off to our own areas. It was so sad to say bye to my district, especially the sisters. They are some of my new best friends and I already miss them so much.
Sora Blanchard and I took about an hour train ride to our area. It was not ideal since we had all of our luggage (hers too since we are whitewashing an area) and it was very difficult but we eventually made it! The rest of that day was kinda boring
Then the work began! Since we are both new to the area we have been working on getting in contact with our friends and members. We have a few friends which is great! People here in Plotești are more accepting of the Gospel but have a harder time committing so we'll see how it goes! It's been a little hard since we are both new to the area and I'm new overall but we are figuring it out.
We have contacted a bunch of friends and started finding. My trainer gave me a few phrases to say to help find people so I mostly use those and she does the rest. She says I'm doing really good but i think she is just being really nice haha
We mostly do finding and contacting. It's good and tiring, I think all missionary work is.
Then we had church! Nothing is as humbling as trying to talk to someone and having to tell the 3 other missionaries that I don't know what they said haha very humbling and then we had to teach young women's so I tried my best again. That's basically all I've been doing this week haha
That's basically it for this week! Basically I don't know much romanian, the mission is hard but so good!
Some of my favorite parts of the day are personal study! I feel like lately I'm reading in the Book of Mormon exactly where I need to be. I love the scriptures now more than I ever have and I think it's because I'm reading then more. If you don't like reading your scriptures right now, read them more!!! It may seem backwards but I promise you it works and that you will be so happy! The scriptures are amazing!!!
A little spiritual thought!:
In Alma 8, Alma starts preaching and is a missionary. He goes and baptizes a lot of people but when he gets to another city, he doesn't have a lot of success. He gets super discouraged and is weighed down. However God tells him how proud He is and he should be happy because he was keeping the commandments and being faithful. So basically, no matter how hard we try and successes we have, we'll have hard times too. As a missionary or not. But know that if you are trying your best and being faithful to God, He will bless you and you will be ok!! He is proud of you and will help you through hard times, we'll still have hard times but He'll help us through!!!
love you all!,

We went to the park where the dedicatory prayer of Romania was given. It was given by President Nelson when he was a young apostle in 1990 only two months after Communism fell.
